Humane Education

Animal Rescue League of Southern Rhode Island
offers a variety of Humane Education Programs

Because of you we can touch the lives of
hundreds of children each year
through our humane education programs,
changing attitudes & creating responsible future pet owners.

Examples of our popular programs include:

ALL ABOUT ANIMALS

In this exciting program, your child will learn about our shelter, the animals that live there and how they can play an important role in making a difference to homeless pets in our community. They will learn about proper animal care, how animals communicate, the difference between wild and domestic animals and much more. We play games, make crafts and meet some of our furry friends during this 5 week adventure!
ADOPT-A-PET

The ARLSRI teams with students and teachers to raise awareness and funds for homeless pets in their community. Through the Adopt-a-Pet Program, we visit 2nd and 3rd grade students to ask for their help in caring for the homeless pets at our shelter.  The ARSLRI sets up a “mock” adoption center with stuffed animals looking for homes. The children add the creativity and personal touch to the project by writing stories about the animals. The children are asked to use the skills they are learning each day to write a compelling story to help each animal find a new home. This year the students wrote tales for 95 animals, raising almost $500 for our shelter!
